Hi Alison, I would deeply appreciate a copy of that photo as my grandmother and her family were all from Avenel. My great great (and I think another great) grandmother was the first white child to be born in Avenel. My grandfather is buried there. Maybe my grandmother may be able to identify some people. Hello Margery, It is possibly worthwhile also posting your query to the Vic Northwest list as Colbinabbin is on the border of both lists. Good luck. Hi All I have a good copy of a photo of the Church of England Avenel Church Wardens including Reverend Wilcox and my ancestors Thomas Frederick Griffiths, Frederick Augustus Griffiths and Walter Griffiths. There are 6 other men in the photo and one small boy - don't know any other names. I don't know a date but would guess it is around late 1800's to very early 1900's. I am very happy to send a copy by email if anyone is interested. Regards, Alison in Brisbane
Good evening all - Happy Easter I'm looking for anyone who knows of Edward H Chatterton - arrived in Vic pre 1857, married Sarah McCann d of Henry and Jane McCann. Had a child or two and left for the US by 1865. Looking for any information any connection- Don't rush me with pages and pages of glorious data... Denise
Does anyone know if the weighbridge and wheat silos in Colbinabbin are still in existence? I seem to remember a train coming through about once a week. Would be very interested to hear about them please. Thanks, Margery
Hi Coral, If you like, I'll give them a ring on Tuesday afternoon, and see what they can turn up. They should do this for me... I sang (badly) in their choir for 5 years. Beautiful church though. Hi Listers, Is there some kind lister who is close to the Albury C.of E. and could check a christening record for the above for me please? The info I have is that he was baptised in 1850 at the C.of E. Albury and that the church record number is V18502078-38A. I would love to find out the names of his parents and if not too much trouble if any other siblings were also baptised about the same time. As I live in the SE of South Australia there is little hope of me getting to Albury in the near future and this info would confirm if I am researching the right man. May I also take this opportunity to wish all listers a very Happy Easter . Regards, Coral E.
Thank you Denise, I will look forward to hearing any info that you may find. One of the men reportedly to come from Omeo was John Strickland - Englishman who had spent time on the Californian gold fields. He settled in the northeast, living working etc. in Chiltern. Peter I have just returned from a few weeks away from my files, so when I get back into the swing I'll let you know what I find. I have a booklet which was written in 1881 which also names a few of the early people, so will check it out for you. regards Denise

I am about to announce some additions to the spares and will include the link again. Give me half an hour. :) Cheers Peter ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ At 11:31 AM 26/03/2005 +1100, you wrote: > Hi listers, >I am new to the list and would like to know where to go to find spare BDM's >from this list. >I saw the link on the archives and was wondering if it still exists. >researching >Whelan >Fisher >And Hutchison all from 1850's onward >regards >Jenni
