Hi, Am wondering if someone could tell me the names of the newspapers which existed in the EUROA/VIOLET TOWN area in 1865. Thanks. Anne Hanson [email protected]
Hi everyone. One of our American subjects wasn't exactly the cream of Yackandandah society it seems. Not only was he perhaps a bigamist, or constantly unfaithful, he had illegitimate children, and he certainly was in jail twice. He made claims about various things but I now have information which throws doubt on these claims. Guess this is what comes of being born to a Judge! Has anyone ever been to the male prisoner lists at PROV online and can give me advice as to what exactly the dates represent. In his divorce papers, his wife tells that he was set free on such and such a date, however the online Index shows a different date to her statement. I need some advice if anyone can, on what those dates do represent. Chris and I will then attempt to find the court cases in the newspapers if we can narrow down the dates. This guy was a horror. Denise

Hello, I am helping a friend from Scotland who is looking for information regarding a branch of his tree. The Malcolm family is thought to have arrived in Victoria on board Aurora in 1848. Duncan and Isabella Malcolm had one child born at sea and three others for whom I have names later in the Geelong area. They were Robert, Mary (obviously died as baby), Mary Rose and Duncan. Other possible children are William. Isabella, James and Agnes. I have obtained death certificates for both parents but the names of the children are illegible on both certificates. The father died at Ballarat and the mother at Hamilton. On the death certificate for the father the information was provided by a grand daughter named Elizabeth Stephen. Is anybody researching this family? If so, my friend in Scotland has a great deal of information on the Scottish line of the tree and would appreciate any information from Australia and would provide Scottish information. Hope these names are familiar with somebody on the list. Two of the oldest children were born in Geelong, but not sure about the others. I do have reason to believe that Hamilton may have been their home for some time. Thanks for reading, Janet in Sydney
Hello Jo, As we know, anything is possible ...... but at this stage I don't know of any connection. I have accounted for all The brothers in this particular WARREN family. I've collected lots of Warrens, though, and if you haven't already sorted yours out, either of these could be a possibility: William Henry WARREN baptised 29th. November 1857 in Madron, Cornwall, son of John. William Henry WARREN baptised 13th. June 1858 in Paul, Cornwall, son of William and Susan. Don't know anything about their parents, I'm afraid. With that spelling your MADDENs are more likely to be Irish. Kindest Regards ...... Thank you, Peter, If anyone has any resources for "Undera" I would be very grateful if they would see if there are any WARRENs. And could anyone please tell me what cemetery would cover Undera ...... or would have covered Undera in 1883? I see (from the catalogue) that the Prahran Mechanics Institute Library has a couple of books which (hopefully) I will be able to get today. Shall see if they are indexed ...... and if so, I may be able to reciprocate with look ups. "Tatura and the Shire Of Rodney". "1876-1976 The Centenary of Undera State School". kindest Regards .......
