An old prospector well known between the Dark River and Wodonga was picking down a bank in the vicinity of the Dark reefs last week when a very large and venomous snake came out of a hole and made a dart at the man's hands but missed and fastened on to the handle of the pick and in less that 3 minutes the handle had swelled to such an extent as to burst the eye of the pick. the last that was seen of that reefer he was making his way over the fall towards Gippsland He said the snakes were not so venomous there. - Snake holds up Wangaratta Express train at the station. A hissing 4 foot tiger snake had the passengers running in all directions. 4 porters, 4 crowbars and a good deal of huffing and puffing despatched his snakeship. (as the paper calls snakes) -
