    3. Good to see the list back in action - For the Jarvisites LARCENY OF A TURKEY William Jarvis, better known as "Bill Riley" an elderly man who resides at Corryong, either suffers(?) from kleptomania, or else has a penchant for roast turkey. The latter suspected. James Mackay was awakened from his slumber at 1.30am by hearing a noise amongst his turkeys. Here was "Bill" making off with a prime bird. Turkey dead, throat cut...when Riley alias Jarvis or vice versa, saw Mackay he realised the game was up. Dropped the bird & tried to get away, but alas Mackay detained him until the arrival of Constable Woodhouse as a Mr. Roddick had also been aroused by the commotion & informed the law. Although Jarvis/Riley's "character" as a drunken man was well carried out, he was eventually lodged in the Corryong lockup. Outcome - admitted bail & due to appear at Corryong Court on 7th Dec 1895. Perhaps he was just preparing for xmas.....???? Chris No doubt one of many Colourful Characters of the Upper Murray.
