Bill, yes please I am interested. As to the Cobb & Co. coaches - Crawfords ran under Cobb banner for a while, as the Telegraph Line and also under Cobb in the Upper Murray in the early 80's after buying them out. "Them" being certainly not the old Cobb & Co. but a company which carried on, one of many, under the banner. In the Upper Murray case it was Robertsons. Crawfords ran to Melbourne from Albury under the Telegraph Line (which was part of Cobb in the 50s and early 60s) in conjunction with another company. I've certainly not heard of it this late in the century, Crawfords being well established for 40 years by this time and more than big enough to hold their own. In fact bought out / took over, a lot of other companies. But this is interesting indeed. I've NEVER found a hold up of Crawfords (and had it substantiated) from Bushrangers, or even like this article you have come across. However, loss of money thru staff being less than honest,,,,,,,,,another matter altogether! So anything that can be found would be much appreciated Bill, Thanks Denise > Denise, > > Doing a "Suzie Zada and Geelong Job" on some of the indexes in the Benalla & > District Family History Group rooms and came across a reference to an > article in the Benalla Standard of 5 April 1898. > > States in Part; > The Cobb & Co Coaches of Messer's Crawford and Co (that should get your > hackles up quickly vbg ) sustained a Jewellery robbery from the Chiltern and > Beechworth coach.
