I haven't received it email,, however there was one "MM" on my old email address with nothing on it, thought it strange but also thought it one of those spam mails/virus things. Deleted. If it was emailed would you please send it again to my latest email address you used last week? Thank you. As to any names for Industrial Schools, you never know so anything on Haeffner or Crawford (will be surprised) Any for Licenses - again Crawford and Haeffner, and to help place the right Crawfords and Haeffners we have these hotels - 1. The Star Hotel in Chiltern, 2. Forest Park Hotel Carbor, 3. Of course anything at the Eastern Arcade (time frame 1872-1882) for the 4. Apollo or any other pub/hall there - there were two or three. 5. And the Junction Hotel in Wooragee. of course there is the Everton Pub you found the license for, which I still haven't got any more on........ Hangings - well, this really would surprise me... Thanks Mary for keeping any eye out for my names. Denise > Dear Denise and all, > I have sent you by private mail an excel file of Theatre Licenses for St. Georges Hall the Odd Fellows Hall in Beechworth. These appear as the only entries for Beechworth in this volume. Only a few entries. > I am currently transcribing lists of Children who were at the Industrial School or a Reformatory who were 'licensed' out to someone - presumably to work for them. > I believe there are other lists of those at the Industrial School. This book shows the surname, given name of each child, surname, given name and address of who they were sent to, the date of the licence and the date it was recorded, a correspondence number and a remarks column. I am quite surprised there are so many names. > This book is a licensing record and there are several others, so I have a way to got yet. It shows licences for holding theatrical performances, universities claiming bodies of those hanged, water licences etc. it is a varied book, but rather interesting. I expect it will take me a long time to list them all. > I generally keep an eye out for surnames I see on the various lists, but if anyone thinks their ancestor may have run a hall/pub that required a licence to have theatrical entertainment or had a vessel that may have wanted to enter the Bay just give me a name and/or place. Of course if you had an ancestor that was hanged it may show who claimed the body but not what they did with it!! I do remember reading a file some years ago that contained notes from a doctor of sorts who examined the heads/skulls/brains of murders and other criminals to see if there was something significant.......................... > > Mary of Melbourne > >
