    3. "On Tuesday, Mr. De Campo, in going along the Wooragee road, near Beechworth, saw a man sitting against a log a little distance back, near Newey's slaughter yards. In passing the same place on Wednesday he was surprised to see the man in exactly the same position. On approaching him he found the mad was dead. Constable Wyatt, on investigating the case, found that the deceased was secured to the log by a strap around it and his neck. The deceased was a stranger and nothing was found on the body to lead to identification. There was no money in the pockets of the dead man's garments. He was about 6 feet high and 60 years of age, clean shaved, except for a fair moustache, and his hair was turning grey. The body was taken to Beechworth." Corryong Courier - 22/10/1896 Chris
