Malcolm in reply to your queries. The Bridge is the major one over the Buckland River and last time I was up there was at the end of the bitumen a few miles back before he cemetery. Where the Joss House actually was is a bit unclear to me as both my Uncle and mother were a bit vague themselves as to where it was. The impression I get is on the rise above the road before you get to the cemetery(the road rises from the flats up to the cemetery). My mother mentioned that there were graves outside the current cemetery. The area she pointed out was if you are at the entrance to the cemetery looking up the hill over to the right and further up the hill (there was a clump of trees in the area some years ago). I can't help you as to when the cemetery was first used. Some one from Bright Historical Society might know. These emails have also made me remember my parents talking of the 'school block' for the lower Buckland school which placed it further back toward Porepunkah than I previously mentioned. I think one of the issues with finding places is that the whole area changed when the dredges went through and previous areas which may have been used would have ended up as dredge tailings. I have some maps I will have to search for but I don't think that they go as far up the Buckland as you would need. I also have some hand drawn maps that my Uncle made later in his life but again they don't answer your questions. Ian Payne
