Yackandandah Times March 1903 We regret to have to report the death of the wife of one of our old identities, viz, Mrs Archibald Hays of Osbornes Flat. The deceased had been ailing for some years but a strong constitution enabled her to live to the fairly ripe old age of sixty four. The deceased was a sister of Mrs James McCullough, Yackandandah, Mrs Waterson of Back Creek and Mrs McKibbin of Sutton and there are seven sons and daughters several of whom are married. Mr Hays is one of our most respected pioneers and he has the sympathy of the district at large in his bereavement. The funeral took place on Tuesday and was very largely attended. The Rev. J.H.Meek officiated at the grave and the mortuary arrangements were in the hands of McDermott and Hall. Death Notice HAYES On 9th March 1903 at her residence, Eliza Jane, wife of Archibald Hayes of Osbornes Flat. "So sadly missed, so deeply mourned."
