Thanks Wendy. It is definitely spelt STIRLING and there is now a Stirling in New Jersey. Almina lived in NJ in 1870. Don't know if it was there in 1870 or not but I have a copy of a advertising flyer which has Almina's name and her sons' name on it (no date) advertising that they were in town, name of street only given, no town and would be glad to teach you painting. They obviously moved around teaching in various towns. I guess I could check Stirling in NJ for the name of this street but it still doesn't tell me where she was in 1880. I guess she will turn up, they always seem to.
