    1. Wm ROPER: Kirby's Flat
    2. Could someone please tell me where Kirby's Flat is/was? I've managed to track down my William Lock to this location in 1861. He was a storekeeper to William Roper who ran a hotel & store there. Cheers and Happy New Year. Simon

    3. Hi Simon, Kirby's Flat (now Kirby Flat) is a few kms south of Yackandandah on Bell's Flat Road, and the site of Roper's Store is known, although there's nothing left of it of course. Yackandandah Historical Society have an 1856 map clearly showing the site (they may have copies still available for sale at about $20 I think). As you are probably aware, we have two of William Lock's babies buried here at Yackandandah (1861 & 62). In the same grave in the C of E Section, but unfortunately unmarked & we have no record of where.
