    3. Duke of Edinburgh has arrived in Victoria and all the towns are celebrating. Beechworth District is holding a Children's Fete - Chiltern had theirs! The kids will assemble no later than 10.30 in the Market Reserve and be marshalled by Gillan, Collier and Drury. They will then form into a square and sing the National Anthem. After a Royal Salute they will then proceed to the Cricket Reserve in procession headed by the Wang and Be/worth Drum and Fife Bands 12 noon dinner will be served after which the LOTTERY will take place - 500 prizes will be distributed including a silver watch workboxes &c. Games - for boys and girls follow - Races, flat and hurdle; Cricket, Football, Aunt Sally, Swings, Skipping,Bell the Cat, &c &c. About 2 pm Master Burrowes the famous boy pedestrian will exhibit some astonishing feats in walking; and during the afternoon several AIR BALLOONS will be set off. 5 pm - Tea for the children at the Booths then they will march back to the Market Reserve headed by the various bands where their parents and friends WILL BE EXPECTED to receive them. 8 pm - Display of Fireworks let off in the Market Reserve from a stand facing Holmes' Creek. Best brass bands will place during the proceedings. All guys willing to act as Stewards please attend no later than 10 am. - Now interestingly, T M Ellen of the British Hotel 3 Mile and W E Laycock of Spring Ck, Robert Ransom of the Albion Hotel are telling their friends their refreshment books will be on the ground the day of the Children's Grand Fete Day. Wines, Spirits Liquors &c will be provided. ----- Parking at the Fete - the Committee of Management has a portion of the reserve set aside for horses and vehicles. Horses - in the saddle paddock please. - A triumphal Arch in Ford St - Flowers, Evergreens Banners and Flags for decorating same are needed - please give to the Hon Sec Edward S Harris. =- Beechworth Grammar - the pupils of the above school on the day of the fete will assemble in the schoolrooms at 9.30 and from thence to march to the Market Reserve. Parents! Make sure the kids are on time Ed Harris - St George's Hall Professor Blair the world renown magician will soon appear. And then disappear probably! - Yackandandah- At the Cricket Ground.Free FEAST Sports and Games and fireworks in the evening. Cricket Swings Giant strides, Jumping in sacks, high jump, pig race, Quintain, Foot Ball, Wheelbarrow and foot races, Aunt Sallys Skipropes &c &c A powerful Galvanic Battery A Brass Band and Highland Piper Jolly fun for everyone. Publican's booth on the ground - Billson's Brewery will be closed for the transaction of business that day! -
