> 8 pm - Display of Fireworks let off in the Market Reserve from a stand > facing Holmes' Creek. > Best brass bands will place during the proceedings. > All guys willing to act as Stewards please attend no later than 10 am. News UPDATE - Successful fireworks display. If the slightest stoppage occurred off went half a dozen rockets and while the spectators were gazing up in the sky all was made ready for a fresh display. There was not for nearly an hour during which the fireworks lasted, tow minutes' of darkness. Ended and a mad rush for the buggies coaches and vehicles - no! the were not going to get away, there were more fireworks in the town, the horses refused to move and the ladies and children entirely sympathised with the horses and then there was another hour's jollity, The next morning I bet there wasn't a dog left in town.

I have a James LINDSAY who was married to a Mary IRVINE (if I can believe the details on son Joseph's death). I know not from whence they came but dating back to a marriage around 1860 to 1870. Just in case...... Cheers, Wendy
