Pamela: I think that you have settled on an most interesting format. My wife's great grandmother, who as a single Irish assisted immigrant left home on 23 October 1863 for Moruya , commenced writing all the important events of her life in an "Any year" Diary. Thus for any day of the year you had BMD's, holidays, scholastic successes, trips, etc, all mixed up in time sequence. When she died her daughter, my wife's grandmother, continued the tradition and started a second book when there was insufficient room left in the first to record her events, so that there is a century of recordings. At times quite personal thoughts were added to the entries. To get a coherent view one has to transcribe the record into chronologic order and at times think hard to identify what and who the diarist was talking about. I wonder if others have come across this kind of diary recording?
