    3. Wendy it maybe worth telephoning or writing to one of the officers I have found them to be great for copying items for me, (Reprographics Officer ) they are quite approachable and explain your situation. When I looked on the Web it seems that one can't send in a request for copies of these letters - you have to do it personally? I suspect this is in regard to land in Bungonia - a property called 'Cogenburgh' where the famaily lived for a few years before Robert came to Victoria. But he allegedly also had property in the Hunter Valley so I really do need to check it out. I revery much appreciate your assistance, Cheers, Wendy ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kerry" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, October 09, 2005 12:56 AM Subject: Re: [HC] Robert Milne > Hi Wendy the reference I gave you > CSreLand Ref: 2/7928 1163 MILNE Robert 1839 > > (means Colonial Secretary re land) > > Colonial Secretary's papers, 1826-56, the major official primary source for Australian history in the first half of the nineteenth century. The index covers requests from individuals for land - leases and purchases - received by the Colonial Secretary's office between 1826 and 1856. These letters were separated out of the main series of incoming correspondence. They can be very important because the applicant often provides background information about themselves that is not available in any other source. Microfilm copies of the Letters received by the Colonial Secretary re Land, 1826-56 are available in both reading rooms. > > The reference above is the search returns item and reel numbers > > If you go here http://www.lands.nsw.gov.au/MapsAndPhotos/default.htm > > you can then search the parish maps to see his land. > > Kerry > > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: Wendy > To: [email protected] > Sent: Saturday, October 08, 2005 5:21 PM > Subject: Re: [HC] Unassisted Immigrants 1842-55 - Sydney > > > Kerry, > > Thanks.
