    3. OMA Aug 7 1897 Serious Scalding Accident An accident, attended with very painful results, occurred at Wednesday last at Sheepstation Creek, a few miles from Beechworth. Mr Walter Crawford, son of Mr. H.A. Crawford of Brookfield, Everton, is in charge of a farm in that locality, and it appears that on the day mentioned Mrs Crawford and a young child were sitting in front of the stove, on which stood a vessel of boiling water. By some mischance, one of the legs of the stove became detached, throwing it forward and displacing the pot of water which scattered over both of them, inflicting severe scalds. Dr Skinner was at once summoned to the spot, and promptly attended. The remedies he applied were successful in alleviating the intense pain consequent on the severe injuries, but some time must elapse before the suffers can be expected to gain perfect recovery from an accident which might have been attended with fatal consequences.
