A site called 'Chinese Voice' contains much early Chinese N/E Vic history & genealogy which may aid researchers. www.stevenyoung.co.nz/chinesevoice/ChinConf/S5.html - 113k - extract from site: "When they returned to the King Valley they lived in a cottage next to the King Valley school and it was here that both of their children were born and reared. This cottage had a strange history. It was built for the first school master of the King Valley school, William Coulton Smith, but he only lived in it a few months before he died of tuberculosis." The truth is as follows - William Coulton SMITH b.1882 Barnawartha taught at King Valley School from 1906 till 1915. His last posting was Headmaster at Essendon School no.483 from 1942 till 1945. He died 25th August 1945 and according to his death certificate (fortunately) he did not die of tuberculosis. I have tried to have this misinformation corrected many times to no avail. Sue (William's great grand neice.)
