William Thompson (of Eldorado) presumably married Mary Ann Neligan (of Eldorado) in October 1898, according to the birth certificate of their daughter, May Thompson, who was born 8th December 1898. The writing on the birth cert. for May Thompson is difficult to read, but it looks like Mary Ann was only 15 yrs old when May was born (William was 28). I have looked for this marriage before, but have never been able to find it. It is a sad story, as Mary Ann Neligan's father died when she was very young. Her stepfather, James Thompson, died in the McEvoy disaster at Eldorado in 1895. Mary Ann's photo, along with her two half brothers and half sister, featured in the Weekly times, waiting at the top of the mine while the search was conducted for the bodies of the unfortunate miners. In 1899 she gave birth to May, the first of 5 daughters, with William Thompson (her step uncle). Mary Ann died tragically in 1919 and is buried at Wangaratta. Thanks, Ronda
