    3. I suspect this is the case Ronda. I have a death in 1871 registered for Matilda. 5 weeks of age = birth in 1871 which is not registered. Your school notes in 1883 takes Kate's age back to 1871 - it seemed to be very precise 11years 11 months in the Jan/Feb of 1871. Birth unregistered. This is why I think they may have been twins. Many other children registered, but either they didn't register these two or the records slipped thru the cracks. I'll buy a certificate or two and see if anything shows up. Still can't find a definite marriage for Kate -Catherine showing Beechworth (area) as place of birth.
