    3. EVANS - MURPHY - On the 22nd august 1877 at the Church of England Parsonage Wangaratta, by the Rev. Henry J. Poole, Mr. William Evans, eldest son of Mr. Robert Evans of Wahgunyah to Miss Jane Murphy eldest daughter of Mr. Henry Murphy of Springhurst. # Marina, which Cd for Beechworth are you speaking of? # I wonder if the Henry above is one of yours? # As for access to the Burke Museum, you may be lucky enough to find someone who will be visiting, but the mining register isn't that easy to go thru. You can access the Museum on their website and ask for research- there will be charge. # I have some of the old Ovens and Murray Advertisers during the 1850-1900 but without any dates or other information it too will be a huge field to wander thru. If you do have information, I would be happy to look thru the papers that I have. regards Denise

    3. Three of Us and Mount Buffallo This first hand account by tells how three women enjoyed the Alpine scenery and snows in August 1910, a few weeks after the Mount Buffalo Chalet was opened. They discribe with attractive irony their train travel and their explorations of the Buffalo Plateau, their comments often whimsical and at times sharply observant of human foibles. They made light of the frightful inconvenience of ground length skirts in the snow up to their knees. They identified many of the sights and places familiar to modern visitors who know the convenience of getting around in ways undreamed of in 1910. The historical introduction tells of the origins of tourism and the building of Mount Buffalo Chalet. (Mich Dougherty was the coach driver who transported them and features in the book) Copies available for $15.00 + $2 postage to Pat Pelly 41 Hawthorn St Bright 3741 Ph: 0357551286 ````````````````````````````````````` Regards Di
