Yack Times May 5 1933 Mrs Alice McGowan (nee Kinchington). The death occurred on Saturday at the Bush Nursing Hospital of Mrs Alice McGowan, wife of Mr R.M. McGowan of Bruarong. The late Mrs McGowan who was 46 years of age was the daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Charles Kinchington, who were amongst the earliest settlers in the district, had been a sufferer for years which she bore with courage and fortitude. Yet the end came suddenly. The deceased lady possessed a lovable nature, and to know her was to appreciate her. Her demise is keenly regretted by a large circle of friends. No better tribute of manifestation of genuine sympathy with the bereaved family could have been shown than by the large and representative gathering of friends and sympathisers at the ceremony on Monday. She leaves a sorrowing husband and 3 sisters - Mrs. W. Paull, Mrs P.Andrews, and Mrs F.Bechwith (Euroa) and 2 brothers Charles (Bright) George (Dederang) to mourn he loss of a devoted wife and sister. Her last mortal remains were laid to rest in the Yackandandah cemetery on Monday. The burial service was ready by Rev. C.Lavender (Church of England). The mortuary arrangements were conducted by Mr. T.V. Hall, undertaker.
