I know there are a few on the list including myself who are interested for one reason or another, --- OMA 23.4.1867 Hurdle Ck Oxley Plains owned by Walter Burton sold to Evans Bros of Whitfield Station. £5000 I would be interested to know if this property was worth this money in 1884-1890 timeframe when members of the Crawford family were on it. Hi Denise, I knew Evans Bros had Hurdle Creek for a short time, but was led to believe that they purchased from Daniel Evans,(a cousin), with David Evans Divesting of his share (50%)of the flour mill, Murphy Street Wangaratta, as part of the payment. Wm. Clarke and David Evans built the mill. The price of L5000.00.00, would be quite reasonable as the property was of 15000 acres, therefore 6 shillings & 8 pence per acre. I have spoken to John and David Evans (not the one that bought the property) since you put in this snippet and enquiry, and both believed that E.Bros. had bought from Daniel Evans, so they are both very thankful for your information. Cheers Ray. -----Original Message----- From: Denise [mailto:denisem@powerup.com.au] Sent: Tuesday, 27 December 2005 10:58 PM To: AUS-VIC-HIGH-COUNTRY-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [HC] Hurdle Creek Station I know there are a few on the list including myself who are interested for one reason or another, --- OMA 23.4.1867 Hurdle Ck Oxley Plains owned by Walter Burton sold to Evans Bros of Whitfield Station. £5000 I would be interested to know if this property was worth this money in 1884-1890 timeframe when members of the Crawford family were on it.
