Hi Anne, Being an old Beechworth identity, you will recall "White Post" Rd, going off the B'Worth to Wang Rd, at Everton (left coming from B'worth) That is where Battley town was situated,Hotel on th B'worth side on the corner, racecourse behind hotel. Originally set up as "Toll gate" town. But being very astute "gentlemen" the miners and others swung away either side of the toll house, so it was later removed to Black Springs.
