    3. Hi Melissa, Firstly, are you really sure that Catherine was actually married to the first 'husband'? Secondly, you can check the graves at Beechworth Cemetery by contacting the Burke Museum. However, their records are not complete so you really need to visit the cemetery. My ggg-gf was not listed but I found him buried with his second wife when I went to look at her grave. Thirdly, with all of those children she probably married again. Here is a possible clue showing maiden name as JOHNSON instead of VAUGHAN: Digger - Pioneer Index. Victoria 1836-1888 Query ----- Surname : king (3788 matches) Event : b (926847 matches) Spouse Gvn Names/Mot : cath* (65122 matches) Total matching records: 47 -------------------- Surname: KING Given Names: Catherine Event: B Spouse Surname/Father: George Henry Spouse Gvn Names/Mother: Catherin JOHNSON Age: Sex: Birth Place: BEEC Death Place: Year: 1862 Reg Number: 12720 So good luck, Regards, Wendy ----- Original Message ----- From: "Melissa Young" <assilem3@ozemail.com.au> To: <AUS-VIC-HIGH-COUNTRY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, August 26, 2004 4:30 PM Subject: [HC] Searching for Catherine King > HI List, > > I'm hoping someone might be able to help with some info on the Beechworth Cemetary while I wait for answers from them direct and from a few other sources to find out where he is buried in the cemetery. > > My GGG Grandfather George Henry King was buried at Beechworth on Dec 4 1882. I'm trying to locate the grave of his wife Catherine (nee Vaughan?) and am hoping she is buried with or near him. Catherine is my mystery woman, she was previously married and I'm running into brick walls. > > I have no info on her first husband other than he died in 1853 and they had 2 children. One of those children James, is my GG Grandfather. > > On his marriage and death cert he listed George Henry as his father (hence my saying he's my GGG GF). I'd really like to solve the mystery and find out who his father really was but I can't even find a death cert for Catherine. > > I don't know if the details on Catherines marriage cert to George are correct. Her surname at the time is listed as Vaughan and her father is listed as James Vaughan, I was expecting that her married name would have been used. > > If anyone has access to the cemetery records I would be most grateful for any help! > > _______ > > Melissa > > 0034/2004 > assilem2@OBVIOUSozemail.com.au <--remove the OBVIOUS >
