Yackandandah Times 1-5-1925 Obituary - James McIntosh Mr James McIntosh another of the old and respected pioneers of the district, died at the Ovens District Hospital, Beechworth on Saturday last at the age of 76 years. Prior to his departure for the hospital he had been residing with his son John. Not feeling well he expressed a desire to go the hospital. No serious consequences were anticipated, and his death was unexpected. Deceased was a native of England and arrived in Victoria with his parents at the age of 9 years. Subsequently he wended his way to Yackandandah, in search of gold and like many other miners, lost what he made looking for more. He was of a quiet and retiring disposition. His wife pre-deceased him by several year. He leaves a grown up family of six sones viz James, John , George, William and Norman: and three daughters, Mrs G.O'Loughlin Beechworth, and Misses Margaret and Mary to mourn their loss. His remains were interred in the Yackandandah cemetery on Sunday afternoon, in the presence of a large! attendance. The burial service was conducted by Rev. W.A. Alston.
