    3. Hi Would someone be able to tell me if there is a Register of Christenings for the Beechworth area & who might have them. I am not sure what Religion he would Christened as. We are spending a few days in Beechworth next week & are hoping to do a little research while there. What we are looking for is a Christening of a Francis Martell who was born 8 Jane 1859 at Sebastopol to Francis Martell & Anne Trimble nee Norton. (Illegitimate) So far we have not found a birth record for him other than is what is in a family bible. 3. a.. For Judy L. Goring is in trouble again.... this time Dr.W.A. Dobbyn has taken him to court in Wangaratta claiming £6.18.5 for medical attendance. Dobbyn won so Anslem pays up £4.8.6 plus £1.17.0 costs - no explanation as to why he didn't have to pay the difference. ---- a.. For the ever hard working pen pushing pest of Crawford & Co. - PPP White ants. They were in the Wesleyan Chapel a little while ago..........then they marched down Ford across Camp and into the Court House and attacked from the top as one should.....The boards in the Barrister's rooms were so entirely consumed that any one of the top end of the law should step on a board he would have gone thru. Mr. Kyle who is remedying the mischief, informed us that some of the skirting boards were actually consumed leaving only the paint. However the paper tells the reader that the little white pests actuallyleave behind cement which (perhaps there should be another word for it, like the bats leave behind) actually compacts and helps the situation somewhat. However the cure for these little white ants is to ventilate underneath and all who are contemplating building should know that air and light through the ventilators under the floor prevent the attention of these white ants.

    3. Well, it wasn't an offer, but given it's new years eve and for the sake of peace around the world - The death of Patrick Setbright caused by the accident at the Homeward Bound Company's claim Hillsborough on Monday last created quite a sadness throughout the district where the unfortunate man resided for upwards of ten years and was consequently well known and deservedly respected as a hardworking quietly-disposed honest man. The particulars respecting his death can be learned from the evidence taken at the inquest held on Tuesday morning before deputy-coroner Dr Muller a report of which is forwarded herewith. On Tuesday afternoon his remains were buried in the Yack Cem. Yack is proverbial for largely attended funerals and Patrick Setbright's was more than usually numerous. There could not have been less than 200 horseman that came all the way from Hillsborough and a great many more joined the cortege at the township of Yack. The poor fellow had only been working at the Homeward Bound a fortnight I am told and had made arrangements to leave the colony in about 6 weeks for Canada intending to join two of his brothers who reside there. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Peter Ross" <rossof@ozemail.com.au> To: <AUS-VIC-HIGH-COUNTRY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, December 31, 2005 8:37 AM Subject: Re: [HC] 20.7.1867 OMA > Thanks Denise, if you wouldn't mind.
