    3. Here's the last snippet Denise and Anne Their third daughter Arvilla Lindsay Married Patrick Dunphy at Wandiligong and they had four daughters Annie Catherine (Mrs Delany 1893-1970) Francis Mary (1895) Josephine Sarah (1897) Mary Helen (1901) They all became teachers and taught at Bright at Various times. Patrick died in 1917 and Arvilla continued to live in Bright until 1934 when she moved to Melbourne to live with her three daughters in Camberwell. She died September 1938. Dunphy family John Dunphy snr born Queens Co Ireland 1785 arrived with wife Catherine Wallis (b1804) at Parramatta 11 March 1854 accompanied with their seven children, their son William and wife Catherine had arrived three years earlier on the Emily 1850. The parents never came to Victoria. About seven of their children travelled to the Buckland. (more history if needed) Patrick Dunphy was 18 when he came to Morses Creek with parents William and Catherine Dunphy and their three year son Joseph, Sarah and Anne. Patrick went into business with his brother Fenton about 1868 in a butcher shop at Bell's Gully. Patrick continued to run the business, after Fenton moved to Wagga NSW, until he retired to Bright about 1910. Kerry (some of my line the Gerratys also married into the Dunphy's) Also did I give you the bio on James Fitzgerald another forty niner from Canada that was with the group that walked to Beechworth? Friend of Harry Pardue, first to find gold at the Buckland. Also see O'Day family children went to the States, seemingly set up a coach service in opposition to C & C. 3. Also do you have Di Talbot's book Buckland Valley page 213, Mary and Ellen page 127 This is from 'Beyond Gold' Ken Treacy Walter William Lindsay was born in Minois, America, in 1837 and came to Australia in 1854. He arrived in Sydney with the American Forty-niners who walked to Beechworth where he mined in the Woolshed area. After his marriage to Mary Connors at Beechworth in 1856 they went to Buckland and were there at the time of the Buckland riot in July 1857. Their first two children, Ellen and Maria, were born at Buckland. In 1860 they moved to Morses Creek, where he continued to follow the occupation of a miner until his failing health compelled him to give this up. William did not take an active part in public affairs but his quiet and unassuming disposition earned him the respect and esteem of a wide circle of friends. In September 1871, when a move was made to have Government aid restored to Morses Creek School, William was recorded as being a member of the school committee. Their ten children were Ellen (Mrs Mills 1858) Maria (Mrs Casey 1860) Arvillla (Mrs Pat Dunphy 1861) Julia (1863) Mary Ann (1865) Catherine (Mrs Rowe 1866) William (died as an infant 1869) Charles (1870) Francis (1873) and William Roland (1874). I'm now told someone I'm research appears in the directory cnr Camp and Finch, however he does not appear in either of the above, Does anyone have another copy of this directory - ie. some other source? If this is the case I wonder how many are missing from B to B. Denise

    3. Hi Denise, I hope that date range is a typo - or is that his lifespan? > > Daily Telegraph 08 Feb 1869 - 30 Apr 1892 > I still have this one to look up for you, and can add the other to the list - should be making a trip there in a couple of weeks. You may get a better offer! Robert King died in Mansfield on November 30th 1919. His death notice was in the Mansfield on 6th December 1919, so if there is an Obit I guess it would be in an edition or two either side if not that paper. Ronda

    3. Good morning from beautiful crisp Brisbane. I am hoping someone is going to the SLV soon and would be able to look up an Obit for me from the Daily Telegraph....I know the date within a day or two. Daily Telegraph 08 Feb 1869 - 30 Apr 1892 I've never heard of the Daily Telegraph! Happy to pay costs and repay with some favour I can manage from here. Photo of grave perhaps? regards Denise

    3. Kerry - How big are these things? Any bigger than my basic fiche reader and I'd have to take over the main bedroom as my office! Kerry, they seem to be fantastic. Would you let me know the cost please if you ever find out - and I don't recall how much the one from Macbeth was except to say horrific. I'd rather buy more rolls of film. 2. Jackie, Inq 1848/18, wandered away into bush and starved/exposure. If you can't get to the PRO I'll be going in the next week or so. Yes, there was a child Catherine born 1845. Have no further details. Was she ever found or was there an Inquest? Am helping out a friend with her family. Is the child Catherine Riley who wandered into the bush and died at Dandenong in 1848 one of yours? Further registrations were then made Dandenong. Ellen Riley married James Wheeler 1848 after death of Bernard Riley in 1847. Their first children were born Dandenong then they moved to Woodend in 1860s. An interesting story. It has been located on the pringvale side of Dandenong by a creek. Charles de Villiers' lived there in 1841 when he was the superintendant of the native Police based as Narre Warren.
