    3. Thanks for that Chris. Somehow, Jingellic Station stayed in the family after 1894 and it would be interesting to know how John James Crowe got out of the hole! Actually in 1894 the place was very likely hard to sell, even "in the beautifull Upper Murray!", as there was a severe depression with banks foreclosing all over the place. Hopefully Wilson & Dougherty got their money back though. 3. Hello All, I know this list likes poems etc. and thought you would like this one. I am fortunate as this is my mother! Not sure if my children would say it about me though..................... Mary of Melbourne A mother is special. She's as soft and graceful as a butterfly, yet as strong and courageous as a grizzly bear. Her heart is large enough to hold everyone's pain and joy. Her hands are always gentle and soothing. Her arms are always warm and tender. She works hard to make a home feel like home, and she strives to make life pleasant and comfortable for those she loves. She never fails to go that extra mile to make the holidays happy and memorable. Her job is the most difficult and demanding ever known to any human being, yet she's fully dedicated to the task. She's always there for her family, guiding them and keeping them safe from harm. She owns a magical way to raise spirits and make everything feel better. And her sympathy, unselfishness and forgiveness are unending. All that anyone is or could ever hope to be can be attributed to a mother. She instils the teachings that will last a lifetime. She sows the seeds of virtue and morality, and in the process, she opens up love and vast horizons. She's always watching and hoping that her children's goals will have meaning. She always listens and tries to understand even when it's difficult to do so. She's a true friend in every sense of the word. She's noble and sublime, and holds all the beauty of a golden day, yet even during the storms, she always shines bright like an evening star. Her name should be honoured well, for she's the closest thing to God on earth. >

    3. Hi Zola I was just thinking that the date you mentioned is early for Victoria or NSW registered birth records, for example John Batman was only exploring Port Phillip and the Yarra in 1835 and later in that year a land route was established from Sydney to Melbourne, and Melbourne wasn't named until 1837 and didn't exist in any functioning way until the 1840's. You may have to look under church records NSW for this date. Commencement of Civil Registrations Australian Capital Territory 1930 (pre this NSW) New South Wales 1st March 1856 Victoria 1st July 1 Jul 1853 Western Australia 1 Sep 1841 South Australia 1 Jun 1842 Kerry ----- Original Message ----- From: <denisem@powerup.com.au> To: <AUS-VIC-HIGH-COUNTRY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, August 13, 2004 4:20 PM Subject: Re: [HC] Help Albury Hi Zola, Long time no hear. 3. Hi Zip - for Mrs. Zip. Wodonga Court of Insolvency - 12.4.1894 John James Crowe, of Jingellic, applied for a certificate of discharge and for a dispensation of the usual condition of paying 7s in the £. His assets consisted principally of 2 grazing runs, known as Jingellic and Noorongong, which were mortgaged to the Perpetual Executors and Trustees Agency Company Limited for the sum of £7500. Executed a second mortgage to William Wilson and John Dougharty for the sum of £5000. At the time of sequestration of the estate there was due under the first mortgage the sum of £7950 or thereabouts, and due on the 2nd mortgage £1750. His inability to pay 7s in the £ was due to the fact that his property was absolutely unsaleable. (Find that hard to believe in the beautiful Upper Murray!!). Mr. Emerson on behalf of the bank of Australasia, sought to oppose the application, and handed in a proof of debt for the bank. Mr. J. Ryan, official assignee in the estate, said that he could not admit the proof until he had an opportunity of perusing it. His Honor ruled that Mr. Emerson had no locus standi, owing to the proof of the debt not having been received in time. He therefore granted an unconditional certificate of discharge. Chris reporting from Corryong Courier.

    3. Hi Judy, I have the label and the account/receipt for June 1891. He was in partnership with Dodsworth in the Wangaratta Brewery, circa 1876, but I believe this partnership didn't last very long. We have found that the spelling on these two peices are different, the label spelt "Moloney", the account "Maloney", so will be trying to contact the owner of a book on the breweries of the North East to try and determine if they are the same person. 3. Hi Judy, Micheal Moloney was the licensee of the Royal Victoria Hotel in Faithfull St. after the death of Silas Porter. The timeframe for this would be 1889 onward, as Silas died on 24/12/1888. I am going through quite a bit of paper work now to see if I can find a label for his Brewery, and also who his partner was in one of the breweries in Wangaratta. Will post if I find anything of interest. Cheers Ray. ----- Original Message ----- From: Eric and Judy Douthie <jdouthie@bigpond.net.au> To: <AUS-VIC-HIGH-COUNTRY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, July 17, 2004 10:26 AM Subject: [HC] Michael MALONEY > I am interested in any information on a Michael Maloney a Brewer of Wangaratta circa 1875. 3. Denise, I have some Hollands attached that are connected via the Sloans who are connected to the Forsyths which is my connection. What I have is limited but your'e welcome to it. I don't have a George however as I said I haven't delved deeply in them either.
