    3. Hi I unexpectedly was able to pay a visit to the Buckland area, near Bright (where some ancestors were briefly in the gold rush) and am hoping listers can help me with some geography. I went up the valley past the cemetery, through "Twelve Mile" as far as the Junction. * Was the town of Buckland where the cemetery is today? * In relation to the cemetery, where would "Lower Flat, Buckland" have been (ie down by the creek or downstream or....)? * I have a reference to a burial at "Joss House Hill" - can anyone describe where this is/was in relation to the cemetery or other features in the valley? Regards Malcolm

    3. Hello Denise, The site does have a facility to email a web page but unfortunately does not inform who the sender is. Hope this was new information for you. This information was sent from the Biological Register which has thousands of entries, and you simply need to type in a surname. My Henry FOSTER MLA was there with references that are new to me, so I will have to find the books. Been a bit slack in the research for the last couple of weeks as my son's Lacrosse team won its first State League Grand Final here in Melbourne and I am publicity officer for the club. It was a wonderful historic win and some of them are still celebrating, however it did take time away from this site where I am discovering new things every day. Access ends at the end of the month. Bye for now, Mary > THanks Mary, I was wondering how on earth GALE would find me. > > Denise > > > Dear Denise, > > Have just sent you an email of the page on this site that refers to your > > Hiram. > > Mary of Melbourne' > > > > >

    3. Hello Bev, No I have not given up work unfortunately, keep on thinking lotto will do that for me. Glad you enjoyed your day at Elphinstone and hope it was a profitable one for you. This web site is just a gem and if you have the time very worth while spending hours on it. I have printed off/saved countless pages from the census and other data bases and yesterday think I found something that may have 'smashed' down my biggest brick wall. Have ordered a certificate from England and am waiting for the result. If it is I have been a real dunce with my research, but will let you know. Bye for now, Mary p.s. 3. Thanks for the replies regarding the James Murray inquest. I have an undated newspaper clipping about his death: On Firday morning Mrs. T.O'Callaghan, Miss D.Piazza and others were coming in to Myrtleford to catch the school excursion train when about two miles on the Myrtleford side of Mudgegonga they came upon an uptrurned drag on the side of the road with Mr. Murray underneath. Both shafts were broken and the horse was standing by. The sufferer was made comfortable with rugs and word was sent to his family. Dr. Cooke was also sent for from Myrtleford. Dr. Cooke attendted to Mr. Murray who was conveyed to his home. His family were in and out of the room and thought he was only sleeping soundly but at 4.30pm it was discovered he had just passed away. Near the spot where Mr. Murray was found there is a cluvert in a bad position, and the horse evidently turning slightly to the side of the road, the wheel had caught the corner of the culvert. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Zola Ortenburg" <zolaortenburg@bigpond.com> To: <AUS-VIC-HIGH-COUNTRY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, September 13, 2004 7:27 AM Subject: Re: [HC] James Murray Inquest > Ronda, > Found the following: > James W 1902 Nothing > James 1903 Nothing > James 1905 Fatty degeneration Heart > James 1910 Injury received > James 1915 Pneumonia > Francis James 1917 Vehicle injury > James 1927 Falling into creek > > Hope this helps, Zola > > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Ronda Shambrook" <shambrookdr@dcsi.net.au> > To: <AUS-VIC-HIGH-COUNTRY-L@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Sunday, September 12, 2004 10:45 PM > Subject: [HC] James Murray Inquest > > > > Hi, > > > > Could some one with the inquest CD please look up James Murray (year range > > 1900 - 1930). > > Thanks, much appreciated. > > > > Ronda > > > > > >

    3. Rocky Point (from Hamlets in the Hills by William John Musk) Rocky Point was situated a couple of miles down the creek from Hurdle Flat towards Yackandandah Junction. In the early Mining Claims Registers held at Beechworth, there is much evidence of extensive mining in the Rocky Point District. In 1876 several Chines miers - Ah Cheong, Ah Wah, Ah Mun, and Ah Coon were working mining claims at Rocky Point. The Rocky Point Mine was worked over many years, but inFebruary, 1914, a bush fire burning in the area caught fire to the timbered lining in the shaft of the Mine, and completely burnt them out. The Rocky Point was not worked again. Mr and Mrs Palmer Jenkins and their family were long time residents of Rocky Point. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Anthony Bigelow" <anthonybigelow@hotmail.com> To: <AUS-VIC-HIGH-COUNTRY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, September 12, 2004 6:29 PM Subject: RE: [HC] Anthony - Musk Booklet > Hi Ronda, > > Fantastic, thanks for letting me know Ronda. If you come across Penn. in your travels it will interest me for sure.
