Hi Bev We had the Elphinstone Hotel for a few years. It was a popular watering hole for the locals as well as those travelling between Melb. and Bendigo. It was on the triangle between the highway and the tunroff to Chewton/Castlemaine. Some time after we left, the highway was changed and, so far as I know, cut the hotel off. There were only7 the pub, the general store and the railway station in our day. Hi Lady Di, As printed in the Herald Sun, (maybe a few more mistakes). HURT SKIER RESCUED FROM ALPS. An air ambulance landed on Mt Bogong, in Victoria's Alps, yesterday to rescue an injured skier. The Northcote man, 43, who injured his knee about 3pm on Monday, was taken to the Latrobe Regional Hospital at Traralgon in a stable condition. The man's friends had carried him to a hut, where they stayed overnight, before he was flown out. They said that if I send a letter, detailing as much as I knew with the payment they would forward the information. If no information was found they would return the money.
