    3. Hi Wendy, We had a Merv. Mummery in the lines, he died about 2 years ago in Tasmania. He came over for a reunion at Bowmans Forrest but had to leave on the Saturday night as he was not well, he went back to Tassie but time caught up with him about 8-9 months later. What time frame do you have for the Police Force, my uncle (Silas Porter) was Cheif Superintendant in the 1940s--1950s. Cheers Ray. ----- Original Message ----- From: Wendy <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, October 31, 2005 10:29 PM Subject: Re: [HC] Photo from Myrtleford > Sure Ray - you are now on the list - may take a few days... > > I was in the Police Force years ago with a Merv Mummery - I think he came > from the N/E. A site called 'Chinese Voice' contains much early Chinese N/E Vic history & genealogy which may aid researchers. www.stevenyoung.co.nz/chinesevoice/ChinConf/S5.html - 113k - extract from site: "When they returned to the King Valley they lived in a cottage next to the King Valley school and it was here that both of their children were born and reared. This cottage had a strange history. It was built for the first school master of the King Valley school, William Coulton Smith, but he only lived in it a few months before he died of tuberculosis." The truth is as follows - William Coulton SMITH b.1882 Barnawartha taught at King Valley School from 1906 till 1915. His last posting was Headmaster at Essendon School no.483 from 1942 till 1945. He died 25th August 1945 and according to his death certificate (fortunately) he did not die of tuberculosis. I have tried to have this misinformation corrected many times to no avail. 3. Yes, used to pat Manikata when he walked up the street. Stables are gone now. Guess that's why I like a good horsey aroma. 3. Hi Paul I just about went around the bend with this one - then I got onto Google today and found the answer (in other words I'm not the only silly mug around). The Sent Items box was apparently full up so I compacted it then I could delete from all boxes again. I'm still working on it....... Apparently it only takes one of the mailboxes to fill up and it stalls - but you don't get a warning. So in future I'll try and keep the house clean!!! 3. Hi Wendy, I can think of one possibility. If you're using the DEL key below the numeric keypad at the right hand end of the keyboard (between the "INS" and the ENTER key), you may have accidentally hit the"NUM LOCK" key. On a normal keyboard that will turn on the num lock LED and change the function of that DEL key to tyhat of a decimal point. Toggle the num lock key and try again. If you're using the other DEL key above the navigation (the four arrow) keys. I can't think of anything at the moment.
