Hello Elaine, There are a couple of places that this could be an abbreviation for such as CoolaROO (NW of Melbourne), CROOkyan and CROOked River (both in Gippsland). At that time most of the registration were done in batches and I see the next registrations after your Anderson were done at TALB which would be either Talbot or Talbotville. Crooked River and Talbotville are only a few miles apart and were sites gold discoveries in the 1860s, so my guess is you are looking for Crooked River. Both are deserted now. Nearest town is Dargo. Cheers Peter ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ >Hi Thank you to Judy and Trish for details about the ANDERSE(O)N family >in the1860's. >One birth is shown as registered at CROO. >Is this a local place or a shortened form of another name? >Any help much appreciated >regards >Elaine in NZ
