Joan your best bet is to purchase or get hold of the book "Maryborough"..A Social History 1854-1904. by Betty Osborn & Trenear DuBourg. ISBN 0 95994691 You could probably request it at your local library. It has a lot on the history of Alma, which was previously known as Joyces Creek. Jenny..Kyneton..Vic.
Hi Jenny, I am curious that you refer to Alma as being know as Joyces CREEK. My understanding is that it was referred to as Joyce's DIGGINGS (being situated in a part of Alfred Joyces holding NORWOOD) but it is a long way from Joyces Creek as such. I am not saying you are wrong but just wondered where you got the reference. Please someone correct me if I am wrong. regards Lois ----- Original Message ----- From: "jenny" <jenwy@netcon.net.au> To: <AUS-VIC-GOLDFIELDS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, July 06, 2005 4:46 AM Subject: Alma or Joyces Creek > Joan your best bet is to purchase or get hold of the book "Maryborough"..A > Social > History 1854-1904. by Betty Osborn & Trenear DuBourg. > ISBN 0 95994691 > > You could probably request it at your local library.
