Hi All, Thanks for responses received thus far re: my initial inquiry. If people have interests in Dunolly, it is probably worth noting the following information: There are 3 cemeteries in Dunolly- the Old, the New and Burnt Creek. The Old Cemetery would have been started as a result of the gold rush, which occurred at Dunolly in 1856. The land was reclaimed by the government and the railway line built very close by. It is located in Painkiller Gully. There are no records (none that I know of) for this cemetery. There are only a handful of surviving headstones and I would estimate that there are hundreds of burials there. The New Cemetery is still being used and was established in 1865. There were some burials, (I don't know how many), in the New Cemetery before official recording was started. There are records for this cemetery and this includes a number of burials in the Old Cemetery for families who had previously purchased plots there. Burnt Creek has only a couple of headstones, although, I recall there were more years ago. There is a record of burials that has been put together by a local woman and a plaque at the cemetery lists these.
