Hi Folks, Just an extra tip for some information on Slaughtermen - although a little later than the first enquirer's dates, it was necessary to apply for an annual licence for a "slaughter house" - these can generally be found in the registers of the local Court of Petty Sessions. You'll also find information in the Victorian Statutes on the requirements for these licences. And possibly also details of the role of the Inspector. I can't remember the actual years it commenced etc. but a little research should uncover that for you. The Victorian Municipal Directories list the local Inspector for each. Hope that helps .......
