When copying some entries from the Dunolly Burgess Roll 1869, at the Maryborough Family History Day last Sunday week, I was surprised to see that a female in my family was listed as a burgess and entitled to one vote. My question is, did female property owners have the right to vote in municipal elections in Victoria 1869? I know when they had the vote in State and Federal elections, but the right to vote in municipal elections as early as 1869 surprised me when I saw the entry. Any comment? Trevor
