    3. I have seen indices on microfyche - separate for males & females - of prisoners received into prisons in Victoria. As I recall, the list gave details, including dates. The males went upto about 1900; the females much later. Once you get dates, then try newspapers, especially local papers. Don't forget, one arrest may result in several articles, spread over months: just like a newsworthy crime today.
