Joseph Michael and his wife Bridget became the licensees of the Hibernian Hotel soon after their arrival. He later became a carter and they both lived in Panton St until the late 1880s. Joseph's sister Catherine HOGAN was a widow who arrived with her sons Patrick, Thomas, Kieran and Rody HOGAN about the same time. Another widowed sister, Honora MACKINS and her five children also came to Golden Square in the 1850s In addition to these there was a neice, Honora MERIGAN, She and her husband, Andrew MERIGAN, at one stage were the licencees of the Golden Square Hotel in High St., Golden Square.
