    3. Hi Darlene I have both Family Tree Maker 2005 and all the Vic CD's plus a few Interstate CD'd all happily running the with Digger Software on Win XP Professional so the is no reason why yours should not run either. I also had FTM 7 running as well prior to switching to FTM 2005 and it too runs perfectly so I doubt its the operating system. You may still have hardware problems but more likely its a Program Loading error. You may also have picked up a virus but I think that's probably less likely. As I start I suggest you Uninstall both FTM and Digger. Clean your Registry by using say Norton's Systemworks or some other Registry Cleaner. This get rid of all the left over and redundant links in the Registry and gets the Registry set up for a new clean installation. Next - isolate your Computer from the Internet then close your Antivirus software and your Firewall which I have not doubt you have as a responsible Lister and Internet surfer! Then Reinstall both FTM and Digger. As you install each Application - RESTART your PC BEFORE trying loading the next Application and certainly before running any of the Application(s) or entering data. Some Antivirus programs and Firewalls see some software (or parts thereof) as being too much like a virus so its blocked during installation which may result in the problem you have described. Naturally I give no guarantees it will work as its a bit hard to diagnose problems without actually sitting in front of the offending beastie - but its certainly worth a try. If it still does not work after trying the above then I would run a full deep sweep of your Hard Drive with a good up to date Antivirus software Program to check that you don't have a virus. If no Virus and still not working then I can only suggest you return the new computer to the retailer and get him to try loading the applications and if it still doesn't run then ask for a refund!!!!! The only other suggestion I can offer is an incompatibility between Generations and FTM but frankly I have not heard of this before and that does not explain why Digger doesn't run. Be interested in the outcome.
