Hi Susan Would you tell us how to get the records please? Who and where do I write to? What is required? Crikey ! It was so long ago. I got the information through using Freedom of Information papers but I can't rmember how I got them ! Perhaps check the Post Office or the government section of the phone book for your area. I think that when wanting information about war records from the War Memorial in Canberra the papers were faxed to me. Perhaps the first step would be to write to the mental health authority in Ararat and ask how to go about it> I'm sorry the grey cells are fewer than before... Oh by the way: a few years ago the gaol was open to the public and it was quite sad to see the conditons under which so many people had had to be restrained.Someone in Ararat will be able to tell us if it is still open to the public.
