    3. Dear listers, what am I doing wrong? Why doesn't someone find a box of my family photos? Why doesn't someone post a message saying they are looking for me to add the last bit to complete the family tree? Why are my English ancestors named Smith and Jones (yes, really) and my Irish connections McMahon and Casey? Sad, but still hoping, Marg. ----- Original Message ----- From: Helen McKnight <helen@ballarat.hotkey.net.au> To: <AUS-VIC-GOLDFIELDS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, November 07, 2005 4:41 PM Subject: photos > hi all , > the following are a selection of names that should give some idea of the > family. 3. Hang in there Marg - the Phillips clan (England/Welsh/Scottish??) coupled with Commerford (Irish) will give you a run for your money - both are almost as common as Smith Jones McMahon etc and Dollars to Donuts I know exactly how you feel! My lot settled in Bendigo, Ballarat, Geelong and almost all the major spots throughout the Western District as did halve the rest of the unrelated lot!! I keep thinking I've hit pay dirt only to find they belong to an unrelated tree!
