Thanks to Trevor's lead I had a play with the name Richards (an early Ballarat photographer). There are some fantastic photos of British Court. Has anyone heard of this? Could it be what is now known as the Mining Exchange? So much for vaccuuming. Sue
The "British court" referred to is an area set aside for the display of British exhibits at the Sydney International Exhibition 1879-80, so not a Mining Exchange (and not in Ballarat) Jane Quoting Susan <susana@ncable.net.au>: > Thanks to Trevor's lead I had a play with the name Richards (an early > > Ballarat photographer). I was in the mining Exchange just Wednesday and have been there many times over the years. It is definitely not the mining Exchange in the photographs. However their was a Melbourne International Exhibition, The British Court the picture dated Feb 12 1881.
