Many thanks to all listers who have responded on and off list to my query regarding the placename N and Chill. Consensus is that it referred to Newton and Chilwell, a suburb of Geelong. Does any one have any suggestions regarding Bendigo area jail records for the late 1800s? Thanks again for all assistance. Norma
