On 25th August, 1864 at Ballarat West John LEDWITH and his wife Bridget nee McCORMACK had a daughter Adelaide. Their own address was given as Ballarat West. John's occupation was listed on the birth registration as "Hotel Keeper". Does SKS have access to a directory or list of licensed premises and/or publicans that could give any additional information? The couple appear to have been married in Adelaide a couple of years earlier although no record can be found. John was 35 and from Co. Clare and Bridget was 24 and from Co. Westmeath. I tend to think that Ballarat West in 1860 was what is the main part of the city to-day and of course there was the odd hotel or three! ANY information would be most gratefully received Regards, Chris
