The statement that, any hardware that is older than Vista, won't work with it is incorrect. Most hardware that works on XP will work perfectly well with Vista. Some hardware MIGHT need a patch available from the manufacturer. I have Vista on my laptop and XP on my desktop and all my hardware works perfectly well with both computers, as does all the software I ran on XP prior to buying the Vista equipped computer. Vista is not that different from XP. Someone once actually described it as XP with a new coat of paint. Of course, anyone buying a new computer will get Vista but Microsoft have promised to continue supporting XP for another 5 years or so which means no one has to change so you can stick with whatever you prefer for the time being. I'm sure there are plenty of people out there still happily using Windows 98 Nick The Serpell One Name Study Researching Serpells and variants across the world Member: Cornwall Family History Society. I was going to upgrade to Vista but my darling computer man told me NO. None of my printers, scanners plus my precious Gene CD's will work. He said any hardware that is older then Vista is useless. So glad I listened to him. My daughter has Vista and is not happy with it. Next time I'm in Sydney I will take my XP CD and get rid of her Vista programme.
