Hello Listers, Is anyone researching the GREENE family of Dunnstown near Ballarat? In indexing the "Non-Issued Probate and Administrations" VPRS 7933/P1 In unit 81 (order by unit number only.. you get the whole box) file # 7445 in the box (you can't order it individually) is an application by the Greene family to have Dennis declared deceased. The file contains 3 photos, information that he went to New Zealand in 1910 and was in touch with his mother & family until 1915, when he indicated he was moving around trying to avoid conscription to WW1 in New Zealand. The family advertised in New Zealand for him in 1934 and 1945, but had no success NZ military records contacted and he was not listed for WW1 or 2 No death certificate in NZ 1910-1960 Family wondered if he died in the 1918 influenza epidemic, where they claimed 5,471 people died, 4,337 in the first 3 weeks of the epidemic. Or maybe killed in the Napier earthquake when over 100 people were killed, but there was no certainty on who died or the number. The Probate Court declared him "presumed dead" so that the executors could distribute his share of his parents estate and his personal estate in 1960. Hope that interests someone Regards Ada Ackerly
