    3. Greetings listers, Many of you will, as I have just done, be changing over from PC to laptops as the technology advances. My problem was - how do I change my precious Digger programme over to my laptop without risking the loss of the whole thing? No doubt others have also encountered this problem. The main difficulty I found is that if Digger is on a PC with Windows XP (as ours was), then transferring it to my laptop with Windows Vista is fraught with problems as there are compatibility issues. Thank you Microsoft! What this meant for me was that I could transfer the data via a memory stick, but the programme to read the data would not transfer. Net result - the whole series of Digger files was on my laptop with no means of accessing them! However, I have ascertained that Macbeth, who published Digger as you know, are well aware of this issue, and there is an update to Digger that may solve this problem. So - fear not, if this is a problem you have encountered, check the update on the Macbeth website and you may find that this will be all you need to transfer and access your Digger files. So give it a try before you sink into the depths of despair... Regards Julie H.

I too, have just made the change from a desktop running XP to a laptop running Vista. Compatibility issues will always occur with OS changes, especially when dealing with old software. One issue that I noticed with FTM is that while it was happy to work with the program running on the hard drive and the data file on an external hard drive, it wouldn't work with the data on a thumb drive. My suspicion is that the 2006 software just couldn't cope with the idea of a USB thumb drive. So using an external hard drive rather than a thumb drive might solve some issues. 3. I've also done the same thing over the last couple of weeks - desktop XP Pro to laptop Vista. No problem so far but the salesman did say that I could partition the disc and load XP so I had both available.
