    1. RE: Victorian inquests - falling down mine shafts
    2. Ann Kerin
    3. Dear List I have a great great grandfather who went missing and was said to have 'fallen down a mine shaft'. It's probably more likely that he just left but I can't find any record of his death - so wonder if there might have been an inquest. His name was William John BECKWITH born 1833 in Huntingdonshire, England. The last I heard of him was in September 1878 when he left the Education department (Head teacher at Wedderburn)under circumstumstances involving accusations of 'intemperance' and 'arguments with his wife'. Eliza Beckwith died in 1926 and her obit says that her husband 'prededeased her by many years'. If anyone has access and time to do a look up in of inquests around 1878 onwards I would appreciate it. Many thanks Ann (Beckwith) Kerin > --- >
