Me again, The Insolvent Estate of James Edwards, Late of Bacchus Marsh. This was in the Argus Nov. 1861. On his wife's death certificate has that he died in 1865. I just wondered if it was wrong and he died in in 1861. Everyone has helped to find a Death Certificate but there isn't any. Cheers, Carol
Hi Carol, My great grand uncle was in the Vic govt gazettes of the day as having an insolvent estate in 1877 in Castlemaine. His belongings were sold and any monies raised went to creditors. He subsequently died in 1918. So I think it quite feasible that your relative was just bankrupt at the time.
