I am trying to find anything I can about an ancestor, Francis Lafolley, who arrived in South Australia in 1850 and the next identification of him I have made is in a newspaper report from The Star (Ballarat) in 1857 indicating he was a defendant in a Supreme Court Case regarding a quartz crushing machine at Mount Egerton to be sold. This is on the Trove digitised newspapers website. I am wondering if there are any listings of people on the goldfields at that time, and if there is any record of him in death records. I have not been able to find anything in the cemetery records on line. Any help on where I can search would be appreciated. Regards Josephine Eatts

I checked all the Vic bmd indexes - no sign of him. Not even one possibility. I used both la fol*y and lafol*y, and put them in both the surname and the father's surname fields. Someone might find him on the inquest etc cds. Or the mining accidents list looed after by I think Dave Evans.
